Canada Introduces Two New Language Tests for Its Study Visa Process

Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) and Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program(CELPIP) - General test results from Prometric will be accepted for expedited study permits beginning August 10, 2023, according to a statement from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). International students can now apply for study permits through SDS by selecting English language competency tests made in Canada.

Acceptance of CAEL and CELPIP Tests for SDS

As of August 10, 2023, applicants can speed up their study permit applications by using their CELPIP findings. Accepting the CAEL and CELPIP exams is in line with IRCC's goal of streamlining the application process for foreign students looking to study in Canada.

The makers of the CAEL and CELPIP exams, Prometric, indicated their support for the modifications.

"We

welcome the changes to the Student Direct Stream and look forward to supporting
more students who wish to live, work, and study in Canada with our CAEL and
CELPIP - General tests," said Michael Holaday, Vice President of Business
Development at Prometric. "These items were created in Canada and are
already crucial to many people's aspirations for immigration and higher
education."

Since
2009, the CELPIP-General test has been successfully administered to thousands
of test takers each year and is accepted as an approved English proficiency
test for applications for Canadian permanent residence status. Its approbation
for SDS study permits increases its applicability to more candidates.
Additionally, potential SDS applicants have another option with CAEL, which is
already recognized by more than 180 Canadian academic institutions.

The CAEL
is a comprehensive exam that evaluates reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities through computer-based language problems. It was created in 1987 by language assessment and testing professionals at Carleton University.
It is intended to mirror the academic environment in Canada by simulating the first-year classroom experience and showcasing the skills necessary for success in the country's postsecondary system.

Over 7
million test takers are supported annually by Prometric, a top provider of technology-enabled testing and assessment solutions, across more than 180 nations. Prometric is in a good position to administer the CAEL and CELPIP tests to overseas students and to take advantage of their industry-leading experience due to their deep knowledge and global reach.

International students can benefit from a streamlined application procedure through the SDS program that concentrates on certain eligibility requirements, like verification of acceptance from a specified Canadian post-secondary institution and upfront medical exams. Applicants can anticipate speedier processing times and less paperwork if they complete these standards in advance. International
students looking for top-notch educational prospects may find Canada more appealing as a destination thanks to the SDS program, which offers a more effective route for study visa applications.

Expanding
Eligibility is Canada's Student Direct Stream (SDS)

Students
from additional qualified countries can now expedite the processing of their study permits through the Student Direct Stream (SDS), which was introduced in 2018:

the scheduled test day. Keep your concentration throughout the exam while

Which Are The Cheapest Canadian Provinces In 2024?

Finding cheap areas to live and work is essential in today's culture when the cost of living keeps rising. Canada has long been a favorite destination for immigrants and tourists alike because of its rich cultural diversity, breathtaking natural beauty, and high standard of living.

How to Choose Canada's Cheapest Province for Living

But which Canadian province is the least expensive? In this post, we'll look at the variables influencing Canadian living costs, list the provinces with the lowest costs, and offer some advice on where to call home, along with
the best Canada PR Visa consultants in India.

How to Choose Canada's Cheapest Province for Living

The cost of living in Canada varies significantly depending on factors including location, taxes, housing, utilities, and food. You'll have a better notion of which province will be the most economical if you are aware of these factors. Here are the rankings of each province in each of these categories so you can determine which is the least expensive in Canada:

Taxes

When determining the cost of living in Canada, taxes are an important factor. The three different forms of taxes in Canada are federal, provincial, and municipal. While provincial tax rates vary, federal tax rates are the same for all Canadians. With a flat rate of 10%, Alberta has the lowest provincial tax rate among the other provinces, which ranges from 15% to over 20%. Moreover, some provinces impose a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), which combines federal and provincial taxes.

Others, in contrast, levied their own Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Provincial Sales Tax (PST). When choosing a place to live in Canada, it's important to take these rates into account because they can affect your overall cost of living.

Food Prices

The price of food might vary greatly between provinces as well. The cost of groceries and eating out can be influenced by a variety of elements, including the availability of local products, the transportation of commodities, and local competitiveness. Due to their extensive agricultural production and easy access to local markets, Ontario and Quebec typically have lower food costs. However, due to the high cost of transportation and the scarcity of fresh produce, isolated areas like the Northwest Territories and Nunavut may have significantly higher food prices.

Housing and Rent Prices

For the majority of individuals, housing is frequently their largest single expense, and pricing variations between provinces can be huge. In general, housing costs are higher in provinces with larger urban centers, such as Ontario and British Columbia, while New Brunswick and Saskatchewan, which have smaller populations, typically have more affordable options. Additionally, housing costs in rural areas are typically lower than in urban areas.

Transportation

This can have an impact on your standard of living, depending on things like petrol prices, the cost of public transportation, and its accessibility. Larger cities are typically found in provinces with better-developed public transit networks, such as Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. These systems might be more affordable than purchasing and maintaining a vehicle. Provinces like Saskatchewan and Manitoba, which are more rural, can have lower gas prices, making driving a more affordable option.

Utility

Electricity, heating, and water utility prices can differ considerably between provinces. The cost of utilities can be affected by elements like weather, energy sources, and provincial restrictions. For instance, because of its plentiful hydroelectric power, Quebec offers some of the lowest electricity costs in Canada. On the other hand, because of their reliance on alternative energy sources, provinces like Ontario and Alberta may experience higher rates.

The least expensive province in Canada, considering everything listed above, is New Brunswick. The lowest cost of living in the nation is found in New Brunswick, where housing is inexpensive, food is inexpensive, and energy prices are fair. The province also has a low population density, which could cause a lower cost of living overall.

Why is Canada the best country for migration?

1)    HEALTH-

Health
Most of the countries have developed health facilities but the bill is equally high due to the usage of high-powered and developed equipment and methods.

But in Canada, health care is considered a fundamental right which makes it almost cost-free. But the quality is never compromised. Canada provides the best health care at the lowest cost possible.

2)    EDUCATION-

EDUCATION
Canada believes that with abundant resources in its land, it needs an educated and skilled population to develop it rather than exploit it. So, it spends a good amount on the education of its population than most countries of the world. Primary and secondary education is free along with a low-cost post-secondary education. It even has many reputed graduation universities.

3)    ECONOMY-

better economy

With high-quality education comes a better economy. Canada has a growing economy with an inflation rate of 2.3%. It provides the best living conditions while decreasing taxes. With the average annual income being around $40,000 the economy continues to improve with the lowest unemployment rate since 1976 (6.8%) and hundreds of thousands of new jobs created annually.

4)    SAFETY, SECURITY & CLEANLINESS

Just like Japan and South Korea, Canada is one of the western countries that has the least crime rates. The reason for Canada being on ‘the top safe countries list’, is its strict rules and punishments.

Along with being safe, Canada has a very clean environment, and life there is as peaceful as sitting in a flower garden on a Sunday evening.

5)    SCENERY AND WILDLIFE

With abundant forests, mountains and surrounded by three oceans, Canada has one of the most breathtaking sceneries and wildlife. It is untouched and natural, full of forests, beautiful lakes, and rivers.

You can also enjoy the famous Northern Lights from sites like Yellowknife while sitting under a clear sky and clean land.
